More short-notice trackworks on West Midlands Metro

There will be no tram services from Priestfield to Wolverhampton St George’s on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th May after the late notice announcement of essential trackworks on Bilston Road. This extends a closure of this section of line (as well as that further on from Priestfield to Wednesbury Parkway) from Saturday 29th May until Sunday 6th June for bridge removal works in Bilston.

On both Thursday 27th and Friday 28th May trams will only run from Library to Priestfield with a dedicated bus replacement service then running every 10 minutes from Priestfield to Wolverhampton Bus Station (stand U).

What’s not clear is whether the trackworks will only take place during these two days or whether it too will take place during the previously announced line closure. You would hope it would be carrying on as other wise surely the most obvious thing would have been to wait a couple of days before this work took place?

It now means that the following tram services will be running at the end of May and start of June:

Thursday 27th and Friday 28th May

Library to Priestfield

Saturday 29th May to Sunday 6th June

Library to Wednesbury Parkway

A full tram service should resume from Monday 7th June.
