Edinburgh Trams to increase services

There seems to be an unwritten rule – we publish an article with details of something and then almost immediately afterwards it all changes! And so it has happened again with Edinburgh Trams announcing just a day after we published our service summary that they will be increasing services from Monday 17th May!

The service increase will see trams running from every seven minutes at what are described as Edinburgh Trams busiest time – between 1100 and 1300. It would seem that Edinburgh Trams’ rush hour is completely different from any other public transport system in the UK!

Trams will continue to run every 15 minutes at other times and Edinburgh Trams will be continuing to review the service as a result of demand.

Lea Harrison, Managing Director of Edinburgh Trams, said: ““By adding additional services to our current 15-minute service, we can help our customers to maintain physical distancing. What’s more, we recently welcomed back our Ticket Inspectors who’re onboard to provide a seamless travel experience and ensure that every customer has purchased a ticket, validated their smartcard or activated their mticket. We’d like to thank Transport Scotland for their continued support as we adjust our service in line with the demands of the city.”
