Stop by Stop Blackpool Tramway: Tower

This edition of “Stop by Stop” sees our northbound journey on the Blackpool Tramway reach the busy stop at Tower.

After departing from Central Pier our journey continues north on the tram only section of the Promenade until we reach another of the busy stops on the tramway – Tower. The stop here is located just to the south of the Blackpool Tower and is ideally situated for anyone wanting to visit any of the numerous amusement arcades or gifty type shops along the Prom. There are shelters on both platforms with the southbound platform even having glass panels both front and back to provide that additional protection against the elements. Information panels and seats complete the standard stop layout.

This is the stop at Tower looking north with the unmistakeable Blackpool Tower in the background.

001 has just arrived at the northbound platform as it heads all the way to Fleetwood Ferry.

Taken not long after the previous photo this time we see 003 at the opposite platform working through to Starr Gate. (All Photographs by Gareth Prior, 27th September 2020)

  1. David says:

A wonderfully ornate building was destroyed to make way for that black thing.
