Lockdown Walks: Edinburgh Trams 271

“Lockdown Walks” today is out and about in Edinburgh as we take another look at one of the CAF built trams.

When snow falls it is often a good excuse for photographers to get out and about to capture trams in the more unusual conditions and so it was in mid-February that the below image was captured in North Saint Andrew Street towards the end of the current tramway in the city centre.

In this photo we see 271 just beginning to move down North Saint Andrew Street to turn the corner on to York Place and journeys end. The Multrees Walk shopping precinct on the right (between Louis Vuitton and Harvey Nicholls) leads to the new St James Quarter retail, hotel and residential development, the first stage of which is due to open in the Spring. The entrance to Edinburgh Bus Station is just to the left of the Louis Vuitton store. (Photograph by Roy Calderwood, 9th February 2021)
