On Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May Isle of Man Railways are holding a Swinging Sixties event based around Laxey Station on the Manx Electric Railway. This year to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who the Doctor himself will be investigating reported Cybermen activity at Snaefell Summit and the hippy camp below will be making banners, fire juggling, face painting, story telling and playing live music.
The mods will accompany the 0940 tram from Derby Castle and ride alongside the Manx Electric Railway as far as Groudle creating unique photo opportunities on and off the tram. The Isle of Man Lambretta Club and Isle of Man scooter Club will then display their scooters at Laxey Station alongside many other classic vehicles. This will include vintage buses and on the Saturday only the famous P50 car will be running.
Anyone who dresses in 60s gear will be able to travel on the Manx Electric Railway for half price on both days and entry to the event at Laxey Station will be free of charge.
