Still Standing! Rochdale Corporation Tramway track

Today as we return to “Still Standing!” – those pieces of old tram infrastructure which remain in situ all these years later – we find some more long disused track, this time we are in Rochdale.

Before the advent of Manchester Metrolink the last trams had run in Rochdale on 12th November 1932 when the final joint route with Manchester stopped operating. However, this short stretch of track dates a little bit earlier than that as it was on the Littleborough route which ended on 18th October 1930. Located on Yorkshire Street this short section of track along with the old fashioned setts is in the Town Head conservation area and presumably as it there the track should be there for some time to come.
