Picture in Time: London Transport 1858

As we continue “Picture in Time” we are again at the East Anglia Transport Museum continuing the story of the early days of the museum.

In the last edition we saw London Transport 1858 having nearly arrived at the museum and in this photo we see it at the museum with colour photography having arrived! By the time of this photo 1858 had found its new home and was settling in well but was soon to get a new friend in the form of Glasgow 1245. In order to be able to accommodate 1245 – which was at the Measham Motor Museum, Leicestershire – an extra length of track was required and that work is what is underway in this photo. Lowestoft 14 remains alongside.
