LRSSB board further strengthened with new appointment

The Light Rail Safety and Standards Board (LRSSB) board has been further strengthened following the announcement that Blackpool Transport Managing Director Jane Cole has been appointed as a non-executive director.

The LRSSB is continuing to deliver an ambitious programme of activity aimed at further driving down risks to network employees, their customers and members of the public who come into contact with tramways.

Speaking about the appointment, Carl Williams, LRSSB Chief Executive, said: “With her broad experience, Jane’s appointment further strengthens a board that’s already providing incredible support for our growing team of light rail safety experts. While continuing to focus on risk management and mitigation across light rail, they are also stepping up efforts to improve engagement with colleagues from across the sector while driving research into new technology that has the potential to further enhance tramway safety.”

Jane Cole has been Managing Director at Blackpool Transport since 2014 and has previously been a President of the Confederation of Passenger Transport. Following her appointment Jane said: “These are exciting times for the organisation as it builds on its impressive achievements to date, and I’m pleased to be part of an organisation that’s so committed to reducing risks to as low as practically possible.”

Its also been confirmed that Colin Kerr will continue to service on the LRSSB board following his retirement as Edinburgh Trams’ Safety and Projects Manager.
