Lockdown Walks: West Midlands Metro 31 & 27

Today it is the turn of the West Midlands Metro for one of our “Lockdown Walks”.

We again find ourselves at West Bromwich Central for the below image as two prospective passengers make their way across the tracks ready to board for a journey into the centre of Birmingham. Although the system has seen a significant fall in passenger numbers since the pandemic got underway it still offers a vital connection for many who have no other choice but to travel on board for supplies and work.

The two trams we see in this shot are 31 – easily identifiable thanks to its new name and silhouette of Cyrille Regis MBE – and 27. The second tram is one of three to carry these green adverts for OLA. (Photograph by Andy Walters, 10th April 2020)
