Picture in Time: Blackpool Railcoach 679

We start another set of archive photos from Blackpool today and in this edition we are heading back to 1993 for a view of a long-forgotten advertising livery on Ex-Towing Railcoach 679.

Taken during June 1993 this photo shows 679 returning to depot at Manchester Square, presumably after a day on specials, with a Jubilee Car hot on its heels. Whether the Jubilee is also returning to Rigby Road is up for debate as the destination blind on that tram is between Pleasure Beach and Manchester Square!

At this time 679 was in this all over advert for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company which had been applied two years earlier in 1991. This was the second advert for the same sponsor on this tram and would remain in place until mid-1994.
