Around the World in Trams: Vienna 4837

Another trip to Austria today as we take a look at another of the trams in the Vienna fleet.

This image shows type E2 tram 4837 in Wahringer Strasse operating on route 37. The tram is being followed by another vehicle whilst another can also be seen on the ramp behind. This ramp leads to the lower level of the Schottenor terminus.

The E2 class of tram were built from 1978 and are single articulated, high floor cars built under licence from Duewag by Simmering-Graz-Pauker. Around 119 of these trams remain in service today with the plan that they will have been withdrawn by 2026.
