In Pictures: A sunny day in Edinburgh

A number of the articles which we publish on British Trams Online are prepared well in advance and kept in store for those quieter periods when there isn’t as much news and this is one! This short pictorial article heads north of the border to Edinburgh for some views of the trams in service on a sunny mid-March day – it may only be 9 months ago but this is pre-lockdown and seems a very long time ago! Roy Calderwood is the photographer.

264 runs along Princes Street with a service for the Airport. The old Waverley Hotel is on the corner. This tram carried an advert for the Johnnie Walker join the pact campaign.

253 is working through to the Airport in this shot on Princes Street. A long standing advert for C R Smith is shown.

257 approaches the stop at West End.

260 had adverts for the Johnnie Walker Join the Pact campaign, although red, and is caught here as it heads into the city on Shandwick Place. The tower of Charlotte Chapel provides the backdrop. (All Photographs by Roy Calderwood, 12th March 2020)
