Picture in Time: Oporto 150

Continuing our look at trams from the early days of Summerlee before more local trams were restored for service. This time we take a look at Oporto 150.

This tram was purchased as a source of spare parts and was the third complete tram to arrive at the museum although it was never destined to operate in service but did manage a few runs along the tram route on test. The trucks and controllers of 150 were eventually used in the restoration of Lanarkshire 53 and the Oporto tram was scrapped with its purpose achieved.

In this photo we see 150 – still carrying an all over advert for Air Portugal from its days in service back in its home country – stabled looking a little sorry for itself.
