All night trams back for Edinburgh Festival

Every Saturday during the Edinburgh International Festival trams will run throughout the night to ensure that visitors to the world renowned festival can get back to their accommodation after late night shows. The Festival takes place between 3rd and 28th August with the special service running on Saturdays 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th August.

Trams will run every half an hour throughout the night with day tickets valid until 0530 the following morning meaning normal fares will be available for all journeys.

This is the second year in a row this special service has run and follows on from Edinburgh’s successful overnight service during the severe snow experienced in the Scottish capital earlier this year.

Lea Harrison, Edinburgh Trams Managing Director, said: “We decided to run the night trams last year after hearing from customers who wanted an easy way to get home or back to their hotel after the late-night events that have become such a feature of the festival.Thousands of festival fans took advantage of the additional services with customer numbers significantly higher than during the same period the previous year. It is clearly a popular idea and reflects our commitment to first class customer service.”
