It has now been confirmed that works on the Blackpool Tramway extension up Talbot Road to Blackpool North railway station will start in 2017 although little progress will be tangible this year with the works only set to be preparation works.
The preparation works will start in November and will see sections of Talbot Road closed at times although exact details of the works involved and which sections will be shut have not been revealed.
As already reported extensively the extension will run up Talbot Road from the tramway at an already installed junction at North Pier. It will terminate a new terminus which will be built on the site of the Wilkinson’s store – currently still in situ. All being well it is planned that services will start from April 2019.
