After Storm Ophelia hit the western part of the British Isles it seemed that normal services would resume on both Luas and the Manx Electric Railway from Wednesday 18th October. However although Luas was back to normal after its hiatus it proved not to be possible for the MER to run with damage to the overhead having to be repaired.
This work took several days with Isle of Man Transport now stating that services will definitely resume at the start of Saturday 21st October.
The Douglas Bay Horse Tramway was also not totally immune from disruption with trams not initially running at the start of Wednesday 18th October (it wasn’t due to run on either the Monday or Tuesday) although this was just a short delay with the horses back in action by lunchtime.
