In Pictures: Manx Heritage Transport Festival

At the end of July the annual Manx Heritage Transport Festival took place on the Isle of Man with most of the island’s railways taking part in some form including the Isle of Man Steam Railway, Snaefell Mountain Railway and Manx Electric Railway. Although the MER was unable to run the previously advertised 12 tram service on the Saturday and Sunday of the event due to vehicle shortages but an intensive service was still able to operate much to the delight of those who attended the event. What follows is a little taster of the sights
the event had to offer in 2012.

Although the Douglas Horse Tramway doesn't take an official part in the festival it contines to operate and this view shows one of their trams - number 43 - at the shortened boat terminus on 25th July 2012. (Photo: David Taylor)
