Smartcards launched on Midland Metro

You can now pay to travel on Midland Metro services using the new Swift Pay As You Go card. The smartcard is cheaper way to buy day tickets and single fares and can be used just the same as cash by handing it over to the onboard conductor and telling them which ticket they want.

Cllr Kath Hartley, Chair of Centro’s Putting Passengers First committee, said: “Swift is by far the best way of paying to travel on public transport. The days of having to rummage about in pockets or purses for change to pay your fare are gone. With Swift you just present your card and away you go, it could not be simpler.”

Swift Pay As You Go users can save 10p on a single fare and 20p on a day tickets when travelling on Midland Metro. The card can be topped up with a minimum of £10 and a maximum of £50 and is not restricted to just one user as it can be shared with friends and family.
