A proposed change in the West Midlands Metro byelaws has been put forward by the West Midlands Combined Authority, with a consultation period now open for anyone to make comments on the amendments.
The updates being proposed are intended to strengthen fare enforcement, improve passenger safety, and modernise operational practices across the network.
The main changes within the proposed byelaws come under the “Tickets and Concessions” area, which includes the addition of a new clause that requires passengers to retain their tickets whilst remaining on West Midlands Metro property.
There are also other general updates, which includes the addition of vaping products and e-cigarettes in the prohibition of smoking any lighting smokeables.
Any comments on the proposed changes can be made to directly to the Department for Transport with a deadline of Saturday 14th February 2026.
