Major Incidents

8th March 2012 – The Altrincham line was suspended between 1645 and 1943 after a tram passed a signal at danger and ran through the points at Timperley. Engineers repaired the points and during the period of disruption passengers were able to use their tickets on the 236 bus service. Following an investigation the driver involved was dismissed.

24th March 2012 – The Altrincham, South Manchester and Eccles lines were suspended at 2351 after a tram hit a pedestrian walking on a segregated section of track near to

9th April 2012 – After hearing a loud banging noise the driver of a tram was instructed to stop at Trafford Bar at 1039. On investigation it was discovered that a sandpipe had become detached and was hanging between the wheels. and South Manchester lines. Services resumed again at 1121.

25th April 2012 – A fault was reported on the track circuit at Deasngate-Castlefield at 1247. Altrincham services were turned at Timperley with passengers able to use the 263 bus service. The problem was fixed and services resumed again at 1559.
