Depot open day planned as Supertram trackworks come to a conclusion

2015’s rail replacement works on Stagecoach Supertram are set to end this week with full services resuming on Tuesday 25th August on all three routes and to celebrate the fact – and also the impending 21st birthday of the network – discounted fares are to be introduced from the end of the month and it has also been announced that there will be a depot open day in October.

The final stage of works this year – and the last major works expected to cause major disruption across the network until 2018 – are due to be completed by the end of Monday 24th August. These rail replacement works are taking place around White Lane and Ridgeway Road but are there nearly finished and will allow trams to travel all the way to Halfway – and for the Purple route to resume in its entirety – once again after the past few weeks of disruption.

To thank passengers for their patience during the works a series of promotional fares will be introduced from Saturday 29th August with discounts of up to 21% being offered. From this date until the end of October the following fares will be available:

Short distance single – £1.10

Long distance single – £2.70

Supertram Link single – £1.30 to £2.20

Tram only Dayrider – £3

Tram only weekly Megarider – £9.80

Tram only 28 day Megarider or Xtra – £33.00

Trams only 28 day/Xtra for NUS Extra – £29.00

The 21st anniversary will be celebrated in style during October with the first event announced as being a Depot Open Day at the Nunnery Square facility. The exact date of this rare chance to see behind the scenes of Stagecoach Supertram has yet to be announced but it will be at some point in October so be sure to keep your diary free! This will be the third different tramway in the UK to offer a depot open day in 2015 – is this some sort of record?
