Manchester Metrolink improvement works: Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th July

Major improvement works at Deansgate-Castlefield over the weekend of Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July will see changes to Metrolink services with replacement bus services in operation. The weekend will see a large 350 tonne crane lift sections of the new Deansgate-Castlefield stop track into place.

Over the weekend the following Metrolink services will run:

Bury to Ashton-under-Lyne

Rochdale to Etihad Campus

Buses will run as follows:

Altrincham to Piccadilly

East Didsbury to Piccadilly

Eccles to Piccadilly via MediaCityUK

    I don’t know if this is true but I heard…….

    The Architect who designed the Beetham Tower didn’t like the view of the old Deansgate Castlefield station from the penthouse suites at the top of the building, so he tendered for the contract to design the new station and got it. This seems to be born out by the materials being used, the new platform is clad in what looks like blue green slate tiles.
