The saying that lightning never strikes twice in the same place seems to have been proven wrong, with a second piece of bad news from the Birkenhead tramway coming in the same week. Unfortunately the heritage line will be closed this weekend, 12th & 13th July. This is due to an electrical fault with the depot circuit breaker, meaning that it will not be possible to operate a tram service.
It is hoped that this problem will be resolved as quickly as possible, and British Trams Online will aim to inform readers once the tramway re-opens.
Please note the depot is open to visitors at the advertised times. Visitors are welcome to come and wander around or travel on the vintage bus replacement at no charge. Those wishing to leave a donation are welcome to do so.
Magnificent tramway. Hope the difficulties are soon and easily resolved on both fronts.
