Supertram rail replacement works come to an end, for now

The current phase of rail replacement works on Stagecoach Supertram will be completed by the end of service on Sunday 29th June with a normal service operating on the network from the start of Monday 30th June – but only for a week! This phase of works took place between Hyde Park and Woodbourn Road and has seen a revised service in operation, complicated by the fact that trams on the city side of the works couldn’t access the depot.

There will now be a week without any rail replacement works so as to try and avoid disruption during the Tour de France which makes its way through Sheffield on Sunday 6th July but then from Monday 7th July the next stage – and the longest of 2014 – will commence. This will see work concentrated on the West Street area with no trams able to run between the City Centre and Middlewood or Malin Bridge.

From Monday 7th July the following tram services will operate:

Blue route: Halfway to Cathedral

Purple route: Herdings Park to Cathedral/Meadowhall (as normal)

Yellow route: Meadowhall to Cathedral

Buses will operate from Castle Square to both Middlewood (Y4) and Malin Bridge (B4) at normal tram frequencies.

This work is due to be completed by mid September after which no further work will take place in 2014.
