Nottingham Express Transit will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on Friday 28th February and Saturday 1st March with a series of fun activities in Old Market Square. A marquee in Smithy Row will be the base for a display highlighting the success of the tram over the past decade and also what the future will bring.
Jamie Swift, Marketing Manager at NET, commented: “2014 is a real landmark year for the tram. As well as celebrating this special anniversary, we’re looking forward to the extension of services to Chilwell and Clifton. At the same time we are introducing a number of improvements to the existing network, and our tram-themed marquee will showcase plans to move towards a new ticketing system and the arrival of smart card technology. Over the weekend there’s plenty going on in Nottingham, and we hope that our celebrations will really add to the festivities. On Friday night we’ll even be opening a bar, with all proceeds being donated to local charity, and, with plenty of other fun activities and loads of giveaways, there really should be something for all the family.”
There will be a range of activities to cater for the younger visitors with games, competitions and face painting and a local butcher will also be serving up a tasty treat with a special 10th anniversary sausage!
The marquee will be open between 1000 and 1900 on both days with the anniversary celebrations running alongside the city’s Light Night festivities.
