They’ve Run in 2025!

For various reasons we haven’t had many looks at which heritage trams have run in 2025, in fact the last round-up we had was in May! We rectify that here as with main operating seasons now having come to an end we have a round-up of just what has run on various tramways using heritage vehicles in the British Isles. As expected it’s a smaller list than in recent years. If you notice any errors or omissions please let us know.

Beamish – The Living Museum of the North

Blackpool: 31

Beamish remains open throughout the winter with the tramway to continue to operate. For opening times visit the Beamish website at https://www.beamish.org.uk/plan-your-visit/.

Black Country Living Museum

The tramway remains closed as redevelopment works take place at the Museum. There is no sign that it will return to operation anytime in the immediate future.

Blackpool Tramway

Balloon: 717

Illuminated Frigate 736

Illumination Tours will continue to operate Fridays and Saturdays in November, mainly using the Frigate.

Crich Tramway Village:

The main operating season is now over but the museum will open on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th November for the special premium event “Tramlight”.

Douglas Bay Horse Tramway

21, 27, 29, 36, 42, 45

The 2025 season is now over.

East Anglia Transport Museum

Blackpool: 11, 159, 634

London Transport: 1858

Sheffield: 513

The museum will be open for Ride the Lights on 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th, 20th, 21st December. It is also open New Year’s Day.

Great Orme Tramway

4, 5, 6, 7

The 2025 operating season is now over.

Heaton Park Tramway

The tramway remained closed throughout 2025 to allow substation works to take place.

Manx Electric Railway

Motors: 1, 2, 5, 7, 9, 14, 19, 21, 22, 32, 33

Trailers: 19, 37, 41, 42, 43, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 54, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62

The 2025 operating season is now over.

Seaton Tramway

2, 4, 6, 8. 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 19

The main operating season is now over but the Polar Express Tram Ride takes place on selected dates 28th November-24th December and there is then daily opening between 27th December 2025 and 4th January 2026.

Snaefell Mountain Railway

1, 2, 4, 5

The 2025 operating season is now over.

Statfold Barn Railway

Burton & Ashby: 14

Summerlee Museum

The tramway is currently closed and has not run since late 2022. The museum is currently attempting to recruit a new engineer and the tramway will not resume operation until they are in position.

Volk’s Electric Railway

4, 6, 7, 9, 10

The line is now closed for 2025 and will resume running in 2026.

Wirral Heritage Tramway

The tramway remains closed. There have been no further updates from Big Heritage since it was announced that the Council were withdrawing funding for the refurbishment of the museum.

Information is believed correct up to and including Sunday 2nd November 2025. This list is intended to show those trams which have run in some form of passenger service during 2025 (and thus does not include those on test/driver training) and is as accurate as possible, although errors may have occurred. Various online sources and information sent directly to us have been used to collate this information.
