No sooner had we reported that Blackpool Tramway Flexity2 004 had lost its external advertising then another tram does exactly the same! The latest tram to now be minus any adverts on the outside of the tram is 017 which is now in plain fleet livery once more.
With 017 being one of the two newer later arrivals at Blackpool (ordered to provide extra capacity ahead of the North Station line being opened) it hadn’t been carrying its adverts for as long as some of its fellow Bombardier trams, with adverts for the Fleetwood Affinity Outlet only applied in June 2023 but even so their removal is another sign that commercially things are improving on the Blackpool Tramway in recent times.
017 only advertised Affinity Outlet above the windows but was also another tram which was part of the stroke and heart attack prevention promotion which saw ads added below the windows on the centre section. These have also been removed as part of this work to return it to fleet livery.
017 is now running in plain fleet livery again for the first time in just over two years. Its seen here at Cleveleys. (Photograph by Oliver Shenton, 9th September 2025)
