In Pictures: Metrolink 3104 goes to the Airport

It seems at the moment that barely a week goes by without there being another new advertising livery on Manchester Metrolink and so it is again with 3104 receiving a new wrap for Manchester Airport. The tram was first seen with its new advert on 18th August 2025.

Whilst most adverts we have seen in recent months have been on trams which have previously carried some form of advertising before (often as a direct replacement without any fleet livery gap in between), for 3104 it is a different story as this is the first time it has been seen not in the standard fleet livery. In receiving the vinyls it is the 61st different M5000 to have had an advert – that’s around 41% of the total fleet, and none of the latest batch (31213147) have yet to have an advert).

The advert on 3104 is a dark blue one and is publicising the new look terminal 2 at the Airport which has recently been renovated and now includes lots of shops which are heavily promoted on the main part of the advert.

3104 was appropriately on the Airport route when seen in service like this for the first time. We see it at St Peter’s Square as it makes its way to Victoria before it then heads back to Manchester Airport. (Photograph by Reece Hughes, 18th August 2025)
