2025 is the 55th anniversary of the Seaton Tramway and to celebrate this latest milestone they will be holding an Anniversary Gala Weekend on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th August (the Bank Holiday weekend).
The highlight of the event will be the planned use of all 12 operational trams on the tramway. That will include 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 19. Some of these are rarely seen so this will be the ideal opportunity to go down to Seaton and manage to get a ride on some of those you may not have seen for some time.
In addition to trams in service out on the tramway, Saturday 23rd August will see behind the scenes depot tours taking place. This will allow you to see in Riverside Depot to see where all the maintenance magic takes place – although the depot will be a bit emptier than usual because of the intensive service running out on the line.
It was 28th August 1970 that the first public services ran at Seaton when 8 was used between Riverside and Bobsworth Bridge and with this being the closest weekend to that date this is an ideal opportunity to help them celebrate 55 successful years of operation!
