In Pictures: Let us entertain you! Edinburgh Trams celebrates 11 years as Robbie Williams is in the city

Saturday 31st May 2025 was the eleventh anniversary of Edinburgh Trams with the first public services having run on 31st May 2014 (which also happened to be a Saturday). The same date was another busy one for the network as Robbie Williams was entertaining the crowds at Murrayfield Stadium – and as is always the case with events at Murrayfield the best way to get there is by tram with well rehearsed plans for mass crowd movement and extra trams put into place. Photos from Roy Calderwood.

The temporary ticket booth was in place at Haymarket again to allow passengers purchase tickets rather than all having to queue at the ticket machines (or use the app or tap-on, tap-off). A queue of concert goers forms as further along a crowd gathers waiting for the next tram.

Earlier in the day 275 is seen on Princes Street as it heads to Leith and Newhaven. The tram carries an advert for ESPC who recently relocated to 27 George Street. Behind the tram are the upper floors of the former Debenhams (some with windows boarded up) which await the start of a conversion to the Zedwell Hotel.

Trams pass at Haymarket in the run-up to the concert. Left hand side is 273 in an Emirates advert and on the other side we see 269 with has a partial wrap for Popeyes. 273 is only running as far as St Andrew Square.

254 arrives at Haymarket with a service to the Airport ready to move more concert goers towards Murrayfield.

Edinburgh Trams staff supervise the boarding of 277 as it pauses at Haymarket on its way to the Airport. Roseberry House which used to stand on the right has now been demolished. (All Photographs by Roy Calderwood, 31st May 2025)
