Stop by Stop London Trams: New Addington line – King Henry’s Drive

Its time for the next part of “Stop by Stop” as we continue our journey on London Trams’ New Addington line.

Our tram leaves New Addington and immediately has a short section of single track by the medical centre. This may mean that we have to wait for departure until an incoming service arrives but we’re soon off on our way towards Croydon. We then travel on a reserved section of track in between two carriageways of Parkway before arriving at the first stop – King Henry’s Drive.

The stop has platforms either side of the track with pedestrian crossings at either end. Each platform has shelters, passenger information displays, information panels, seating, CCTV and lighting – as does practically every other stop on the network!

The first photo shows CR4000 2553 pausing at the outbound platform with a service to West Croydon. This shot shows some of the basics of the stop including the passenger information display and shelter.

Then we see 2544 arriving at the opposite platform with a service which only has a short distance to go as far as the next stop at New Addington. The clouds may look angry but they wouldn’t drop anything wet on this area of suburban south London. (Both Photographs by Gareth Prior, 21st April 2025)
