For a two month period, starting from 10th April, hospital staff, patients and their families will be able to enjoy at least a 12% discount on tram travel when going to the Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital, which is just a short-walk from the West Midlands Metro stop at Bull Street.
Michael Reading-Skilton, West Midlands Metro’s Head of Commercial, explains more about the offer: “Although the offer will initially run for two months from April 10, if it proves popular, we hope to make this a more permanent arrangement.
“We understand that hospital visits can be challenging for families, so we’re pleased to offer a little support through more affordable and stress-free travel options to help make life a little easier.
“Our Bull Street stop is just a short walk from the hospital in Steelhouse Lane, and families and staff can also avoid the hassle and expense of finding a place to leave their car by taking advantage of over 700 park and ride spaces across the Metro network.”
The discount can be accessed by using a QR code which will be provided by the hospital. This can be scanned to generate an exclusive code on the MyMetro app. Hospital staff will also be able to take advantage of the offer through internal communication channels at the hospital.
The discount applies to fares throughout the day from 0400 and apply to a wide range of ticket options, including Zone 1 fares.
