West Midlands Metro Engineering Works this April

It would appear that the West Midlands Metro don’t want to be left out, as after announcement of engineering works in Manchester, Nottingham and Sheffield they have also confirmed details of planned works at Priestfield and The Crescent.

Works will be taking place as follows:

Sunday 6th April

  • No trams will run before 0900
  • First departures from both Wolverhampton Station and Edgbaston Village will be at 0900
  • First service from Wednesbury Parkway to Edgbaston Village at 0817
  • First service from Wednesbury Parkway to Wolverhampton Station at 0838
  • From 0900 to 2100 trams will run every 12 minutes between Wolverhampton Station and Edgbaston Village
  • No trams will run after 2100
  • The last full route trams leave Wolverhampton Station and Edgbaston Village at 2000
  • Trams will depart both Wolverhampton Station and Edgbaston Village for Wednesbury Parkway at 2100
  • Whilst trams are not running Metro tickets will be valid on National Express bus services 79 between Wolverhampton and West Bromwich, 74 between West Bromwich and Birmingham and all services between Colmore Row and Edgbaston

Sunday 13th April

  • Trams will run every 12 minutes between Wednesbury Parkway and Wolverhampton Station only
  • No trams between Wednesbury Parkway and Wolverhampton Station
  • Metro tickets will be valid on National Express bus service 79 between Wednesbury Bus Station and Wolverhampton

Monday 14th April

  • Trams will run every 8 minutes between Wednesbury Parkway and Wolverhampton Station only
  • No trams between Wednesbury Parkway and Wolverhampton Station
  • Metro tickets will be valid on National Express bus service 79 between Wednesbury Bus Station and Wolverhampton

Priestfield Park and Ride will be used to store equipment and materials required for this work which will mean that during April up to 40 spaces will be unavailable at the car park.

    I’d guess it’s to do with replacing the block paving at The Crescent stop, as they’ve recently done at Bilston Central

    There’s also an 8km speed restriction just after Bradley Lane by the bridge, it’s been there for a while, so i’d guess there might be either track or bridgework coming up there soon, too.
