There are currently no South Yorkshire Supertram services beyond Cathedral to either Middlewood or Malin Bridge after a track fault was identified at West Street.
The fault was first reported on Thursday 9th January and meant that all trams were suspended from Cathedral to Middlewood on the Yellow route and Malin Bridge on the Blue route.
Tram services which are currently operating are:
- Blue – Halfway to Cathedral
- Purple – Cathedral to Herdings Park
- Yellow – Meadowhall to Cathedral
- Tram-Train – Cathedral to Rotherham Parkgate
To allow passengers to attempt to complete their journeys, First Bus are accepting Supertram tickets on the following services:
- Services 8 and 8a: Between Sheffield City Centre and Leppings Lane
- Service 52a: Between Sheffield City Centre, University of Sheffield and Hillsborough
- Services 81 and 82: Between Sheffield City Centre, Hillsborough and Malin Bridge
There is no word on when services may be able to resume through the affected area again.
I couldn’t imagine that situation happening in Melbourne for instance. Two hours and it would be fixed
