Choir sing onboard Supertram to bring Christmas cheer

Passengers travelling on the South Yorkshire Supertram network over the weekend of 14th and 15th December were treated to an onboard choir singing Christmas songs – classic and modern – to help bring not only festive cheer to all but also raise money for the Weston Park Cancer Charity.

The choir “Glee Bah Gum” performed onboard the 1419 service from Middlewood to Meadowhall and back to Cathedral, with the event organised by choir member and Supertram conductor David Pering. 16 choir members serenaded passengers with a delightful mix of classic and modern Christmas carols – all accompanied by David’s guitar playing!

David Pering said: “”It was really lovely to sing carols and Christmas songs on the tram today. The best thing was to see so many tram passengers, singing along or swaying to the music.”

Elsie Dineen, Marking and Communications Officer at Supertram, said: “”It’s great for our people to have a platform to celebrate their talents; a side that passengers don’t usually see. This hopefully reminds everyone, especially during the busy Christmas period that our conductors, like everyone else, just want to enjoy the festive season and spread cheer.”
