Around the World in Trams: Tallin 157

“Around the World in Trams” continues today with another view from Tallin.

We include a photo in this article of a tram which has now been withdrawn from use in Tallin having ended its operating career there as a driver training tram. 157‘s history can actually be taken back to 1982 when it was introduced in Erfurt, Germany before it was sold on for further use in Tallin during 2007. Originally used as a normal service tram it was withdrawn from passenger use in 2016 and would then enjoy eight years as a dedicated training tram.

The tram – which is a Tatra KT4D – was in an advertising livery for Marli at the time of this image (the advert was carried from at least 2008 until 2013) and is another one we see working on route 2 as it heads away from us. Judging by the family on the right who wait for the tram to pass by rain can’t be far away with umbrellas at the ready!
