Picture in Time: Croydon Tramlink 2553

In this edition of “Picture in Time” we take a look at another tram operating on the Croydon Tramlink network.

2553 is the last built of the 24 CR4000s which were originally constructed for the opening of the Croydon Tramlink network. It would also be the very last of the trams to arrive in South London from Austria when it was delivered to Therapia Lane Depot on 7th June 1999.

In this photo we see that, as with last weeks image, it carries advertising promoting the TfL takeover as well as further commercial adverts above the windows. Its just departing from Arena with a line 2 service from Beckenham Junction to West Croydon.
