It’s time again for us to remind you just where you can travel on heritage trams in the UK and Isle of Man over the next week or so. All the information here is given in good faith but you are advised to check before travelling any significant distance with the organisations involved.
Beamish, The Living Museum of the North
Open daily until Sunday 3rd November between 1000 and 1700 with trams operating each day round the Museum circuit.
Birkenhead Heritage Tramway
Trams operate every Saturday and Sunday with the first tram from Woodside Ferry at 1300 and the last tram departing Woodside Ferry to Depot at 1630.
Next Event: Wirral Bus & Tram Show, Sunday 6th October – featuring an enhanced tram service with up to four trams expected to operate during the day (trams will run from the morning on this day only).
Black Country Living Museum
Open daily between 1000 and 1700 with one tram in service.
Blackpool Tramway
Illumination Tours are now in operation every night until Sunday 10th November. Tours depart from Pleasure Beach only from shortly after switch on each night with three trams being used most nights. The majority of tours will be operated by the Illuminated trio: Western Train 733+734, Frigate 736 and Trawler 737 although other members of the heritage fleet are likely to see fairly regular use (read on!)
On Fridays and Saturdays (plus the October Half Term week) it is intended that two heritage trams will supplement the Illuminated vehicles with five trams being used to operate tours – subject to the usual caveats and on some days already this year only four trams have run.
Crich Tramway Village
Now open daily until 3rd November. Museum is open between 1000 and 1630 with trams operating daily.

Douglas Horse Tramway
Has now finished operation for the summer 2013 season.
East Anglia Transport Museum
Now closed for the winter with the exception of pre-booked Santa Specials on 7th/8th, 14th/15th and 20th/21st/22nd December.
Great Orme Tramway
Finished operation for 2013.
Heaton Park Tramway
The tramway operates every Sunday, with trams running 1200-1600 until 15th December. Both Stockport 5 and Blackpool 623 are currently available for use.
Manx Electric Railway
The season is now starting to come to a close with reduced operation now in place until Sunday 3rd November. The following timetables will be in operation for the next month:
Timetable B (7 departures between Derby Castle and Ramsey daily between 0940 and 1610, returning from Ramsey between 1010 and 1640) – until Sunday 6th October and then Saturday 26th October to Sunday 3rd November.
Timetable A (4 departures between Derby Castle and Ramsey between 0940 and 1440, returning at 1110 to 1610) – Tuesdays-Thursdays and Saturdays and Sundays from Tuesday 8th October until Thursday 24th October.
There are no services on Mondays 7th, 14th and 21st and Fridays 11th, 18th and 25th October.
Seaton Tramway
Trams will operate daily until the start of November.
The Green timetable is in operation until the end of October with trams every 30 minutes between 1000 and 1600 from Seaton returning at the same frequency from Colyton between 1030 and 1630.
Snaefell Mountain Railway
Services are now starting to wind down for the season with limited operation now in place until Thursday 31st October. The following timetables will be in operation:
Timetable B (7 return trips up the Mountain between 1015 and 1545) – until Sunday 6th October and Saturday 26th-Thursday 31st October
Timetable A (7 return trips up the Mountain between 1015 and 1545) – Wednesdays 9th, 16th and 23rd October, Saturdays 12th and 19th October and Sundays 13th and 20th October.
There will be no services on Mondays 7th, 14th and 21st October, Tuesdays 8th, 15th and 22nd October, Thursdays 10th, 17th and 24th October and Fridays 11th, 18th and 25th October.
Summerlee – The Museum of Scottish Industrial Life
The Museum is open daily between 1000 and 1600.
