Another delay to start of trams running at Crich for 2024

It has been announced that trams will not start running at the Crich Tramway Village until Saturday 23rd March. The museum site will be opening to the public again from Saturday 16th March but it will another week before you are able to get on board a tram for a ride along the line once more.

The 2024 season had originally been due to get underway on Saturday 9th March but this was delayed with an announcement made that access to the museum because of various roadworks in the area was limited. At the time it was said that things would get underway from Saturday 16th March but this has now been further delayed.

In the latest announcement it is confirmed the trams won’t be running because of “an unforeseen technical issue with the overhead line equipment.”

But rather than delay the opening of the site any further it is planned that between Saturday 16th and Thursday 21st March the museum will be open. Reduced admission will be on offer (£5 for an adult day ticket) with the depots and Great Exhibition Hall remaining open to view the trams.

A full reopening is now planned from Saturday 23rd March.

Surely the overhead wire job should have been done earlier in the year rather than two weeks before opening?
