In Pictures: Another Edinburgh Trams advert update

You take your eyes off of Edinburgh Trams for a minute and suddenly there are even more adverts! In this article we take a look at a not previously mentioned advert which is now being carried by 269 along with photos of some other adverts which haven’t been featured pictorially on this website. Roy Calderwood provides the photos.

We start off with 269 which re-entered service on Saturday 10th February 2024 carrying ads for House of Hearing. This advert is the “partial Edinburgh Trams” style of advert with sections three and five of the tram having full height adverts and the rest of the tram just seeing ads above the windows. As you’d expect from the name, House of Hearing is an audiology centre.

269 has lost its bright adverts for Edinburgh Bus Tours in favour of this one (adverts which were first added in May 2022). The tram has now had seven different advertising contracts, starting off with CR Smith (October 2017-June 2019) and following that with EE 5G (June-September 2019), American Express (September 2019), Edinburgh Napier University (July-October 2021), Scotland. Let’s do net zero (October 2021-May 2022).

Another new advert which we haven’t reported on before is on 263, but its not an advert we’re unfamiliar with. The tram has become the third to carry the attractive full vinyl wrap for the Royal Yacht Brittania with the ads added in January 2024; however there are not currently three trams in service with this advert as one is currently out of service. 263 had been carrying a vinyl wrap for Bruichladdich Whisky since November 2023 and this is now its eight different ad, of which two have been full wraps.

269’s new House of Hearing advert is seen with the tram heading to the Airport at West End.

As well as providing hearing services you’ll be pleased to know House of Hearing can also give you professional earwax removal. This photo shows some of the detail of the rather plain advert.

263 now carries an advert for The Royal Yacht Brittania. With this image taken on the day of a Scotland home fixture in the 6 Nations the platform at Princes Street is packed as the tram heads off towards Murrayfield and eventually the Airport.

This advert for Scottish Rugby was applied to 261 back in October 2023 but this is the first time we have actually featured it photographic form since! The tram runs along Princes Street going east to Newhaven to showcase its advert on a day when its sponsors were in action not far away.

251 has had a fairly long association with St James Quarter and this has seen several revisions to its advert. Another of these came during January and this image shows that changed ad as it calls at Haymarket.

And then we see a bit of the detail of the St James Quarter advert on 251. (All Photographs by Roy Calderwood, 10th February 2024)
