Can you remember when it was ground breaking news that a modern tram was to be moved on the back of a lorry? Those days have well and truly gone thanks to the continued shuffle of trams on the West Midlands and the busy past few weeks show no signs of stopping. This time the tram which has been on the move is 26.
26 had been at Worksop since 17th August 2023 and was the second of the CAF built trams which had been sent to Nottinghamshire for secure storage due to limited space at Wednesbury Depot. But having been there for six months its time was over and it was moved back to the West Midlands on 9th February 2024.
This currently leaves five trams stored at Worksop with two having come back from the Harry Needle site and another two having gone in the opposite direction.
For the record the Worksop trams so far have been:
17 – left Wednesbury 8th August 2023, returned 4th February 2024
26 – left Wednesbury 17th August 2023, returned 9th February 2024
27 – left Wednesbury 30th January 2024, still at Worksop
29 – left Wednesbury 21st August 2023, still at Worksop
31 – left Wednesbury 7th February 2024, still at Worksop
34 – left Wednesbury 4th October 2023, still at Worksop
37 – left Wednesbury 2nd November 2023, still at Worksop
