Around the World in Trams: Bendigo 15

Another edition of “Around the World in Trams” as we continue to look at trams operating in the Bendigo.

This time we feature Bendigo 15. This is a Birney tram built in 1924 by JG Brill and Company of Philadelphia for the Melbourne Electric Supply Company. Of interest is that it was actually delivered as a flat pack of parts and then assembled upon arrival in Australia! It operated on the Geelong Tramways system until transferred to Bendigo in 1948. 15 continued to run until withdrawal in 1959. Now restored to service in its original Geelong livery the tram is regularly used as the Santa Tram.

With lights fitted to the tram (and an advert for a local toy shop) 15 stands outside the depot.
