Out and About: Edinburgh Trams using the Ocean Terminal crossover

We are “Out and About” again today and Edinburgh is the location as we take a look at a tram using one of the crossovers on the extension to Newhaven.

When there are delays on the service to Newhaven there are occasions when a decision is made by the Edinbugh Trams control room that trams needs to be turned short of the terminus at Ocean Terminal. When doing this they run into Ocean Terminal stop as normal and passenger alight to wait for the next tram. Then upon departure they use the crossover just to the city side of the stop to regain the correct track. 266 demonstrates that move for us in this photo with the next Newhaven bound platform waiting patiently for it to do so.
