Edinburgh Trams service suspended to Newhaven

A potential fault has been discovered on the overhead line equipment between Ocean Terminal and Newhaven leading to the tram service between these stops being suspended from the start of service on Friday 24th November. Edinburgh Trams made the announcement the previous evening with details of ticket acceptance on local bus services.

A normal seven minute frequency service was still able to run between Edinburgh Airport and Ocean Terminal. Anyone wishing to continue journeys to Newhaven were then able to use their tram tickets on Lothian Buses service 16 and Skylink 200.

The fault was discovered during routine checks and the decision was taken to suspend the service to allow further investigations to take place.

A spokesman from Edinburgh Trams said: “We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience and assure them our engineers are working as quickly as possible to identify the exact nature of the fault before carrying out any necessary repairs. In the meantime, they should follow our social media channels for further updates.”
