First 2024 events added to Crich Tramway Village website

Yes, we’re afraid its another of those “looking forward to 2024” articles when we haven’t even finished 2023 yet! As another year of running starts to come to a close at the Crich Tramway Village they are already planning for another season as the first special events for next year have already been posted to their website.

As with any year at Crich the highlight for many readers of this website is the enthusiast event. Its been run under many different names over the years but for 2024 it retains its “Tram Weekend” title and as the name still suggests it will be another two day event after that seemed to go well this year. Taking place in its traditional window it will be on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th September in 2024. As well as all the usual things we’ve come to expect the chance will also be taken to celebrate 60 years of electric trams at the museum.

Model trams will also be running monthly throughout the season again (except for September) with the first date being Sunday 24th March.

Popular returning events include Seaside Fun (25th to 31st May), Classic Motorcycle Day (7th July), Build It! (5th & 6th August), Sounds of the 1950s and 60s (10th & 11th August) and Steampunk Weekend (7th & 8th September).

It looks like rumours that the 1940s weekend has been axed were correct then – not an event I ever cared for, but it does seem surprising as it always seemed to be very popular. That said, these things can stagnate and it might not be such a bad idea to try out new ideas. I do hope we get proper launch events for both LCC 1 and Newcastle 102 when they are ready for service though!
