Unmarked Police Car and tram collide in Wolverhampton

Driver Training on the West Midlands Metro extension to Wolverhampton Railway Station has been continuing on a daily basis since getting underway on Tuesday 29th August. A number of drivers have now been trained on the new route although things haven’t always gone as smoothly as might have been hoped.

We reported on the first day that there were delays in trams getting across to the extension from the junction due to heavy traffic and it has now been confirmed that this was down to failed traffic lights. The lights remained on red for over an hour which caused traffic chaos and meant that trams struggled to get across the road with their way blocked.

Then on the last day of August, Thursday 31st, there was a collision involving an unmarked Police Car and Urbos100 42. The collision happened on Bilston Street Island which is on the way between the stop at The Royal and the new junction at approximately 1400. There were no injuries both vehicles suffered damage. The cause of the collision is unknown.
