In Pictures: Messi heads to Edinburgh too!

Last time the Hard Rock Café had an advert on Manchester Metrolink they soon followed it up with one on Edinburgh Trams – and that pattern has continued in 2023 with the Messi Chicken Sandwich promotion now featured on vinyls applied to 277.

277 had last advertised BT – Spirit of Scottish Rugby although hadn’t been noted in service with these ads for some time. It was known that the new vinyls for Hard Rock Café were coming on the tram but it hadn’t been allocated for service with them attached, until entry into service on Friday 11th August.

The Hard Rock Café adverts are the “Edinburgh” style with full height adverts on two of the seven sections on the tram. As the ad in Manchester is a full vinyl wrap its not identical in design but it still includes lots of images of footballing superstar Leo Messi and not a single one of his Chicken Sandwich!

This is the sixth advert carried by 277 – and the second for the Hard Rock Café! Adverts carried have been C R Smith (September 2017-October 2020), Parabola My Edinburgh Park (October 2020-June 2021), Edinburgh International Festival (June 2021-July 2022), Hard Rock Café (July 2022-November 2022) and BT – Spirit of Scottish Rugby (November 2022-August 2023).

A look down the tram. This also shows there is one other noticeable difference in the advert – it says Edinburgh not Manchester! (Photographs x2 by Roy Calderwood, 12th August 2023)
