NET Engineering Works to affect services this August

Nottingham Express Transit is the latest tramway to announce plans for engineering works this summer with rail replacement set to take place around The Forest. This is the first time these tracks have been dealt with since the system opened in 2004 and will lead to the network running in two sections for the duration of the works.

The works will be taking place between Friday 18th and Thursday 31st August. It will see tracks and points replaced around The Forest to ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the network.

During the works there will be no trams between Wilkinson Street and Old Market Square with the following services running:

·         Phoenix Park-Wilkinson Street

·         Hucknall-Wilkinson Street

·         Old Market Square-Clifton South

·         Old Market Square-Toton Lane

A replacement shuttle bus will run between Wilkinson Street and Market Street in Nottingham City Centre throughout.

Trevor Stocker, NET Head of Operations, said: “This major project has been timed to coincide with what is traditionally the quietest time of year for the tramway, when schools, colleges and universities are closed for the summer and many commuters are on holiday. However, we appreciate that many people will still rely on us to get out and about during this time, and we’re putting in place a range of measures to minimise inconvenience for customers and to help them complete their journeys. Alongside the dedicated shuttle bus, additional members of the NET Customer Experience team will be on hand across the network to offer travel advice to customers, and local bus services will also be accepting tram tickets.”
