In Pictures: Another full advert appears on Edinburgh Trams

The Edinburgh Trams fleet now has two trams which are carrying full vinyl wrap advert liveries following the application of a design for Capital Radio on 262. As with the adverts previously carried on 270 (for Breitling and now for Camera Obscuta) the full fleet livery has been replaced with the vinyls which still features two sections which cover the windows on the tram.

The advert is another one which will certainly catch the eye with a bright sky blue having been chosen as the main colour. Its promoting the Capital Breakfast show which is broadcast from Edinburgh on weekdays (there are several different Capital Radio stations in the UK for different areas which have varying levels on local programming).

The Capital Radio ads replaces a standard Edinburgh type advert for Loaf (and marks a major change as that was a white background on a white fleet livery and now we have one where its clear its not in fleet livery anymore!) which was on the tram from February 2023. 262 has now carried eight adverts which, of course, includes a C R Smith advert between September 2017 and January 2019 (its first). Other companies advertising in the past have been Macdonald Hotels/Paul Tamburrini (January-August 2019), Spotify (August-December 2019), Clearwater Analytics (September-December 2021), Ocean Winds (November 2021-July 2022) and Hard Rock Café (July 2022-February 2023).

Capital Radio is no stranger to advertising on trams either as it has previously had a contract to advertise on Manchester Metrolink. This saw 3030 carry an advert between June 2018 and February 2019. Thus Capital Radio has joined the fairly small number of companies who have had full adverts on more than one tram system in the UK!

262 departs from Ingliston Park and Ride on its first day in service with its new ad. Also note that it has received a rosette on the end of the tram celebrating that Edinburgh Trams is Scotland’s no. 1.

We take another look at 262 as it comes back through Ingliston on its way back to Newhaven. (Both Photographs by blackpool_trams)
