When Edinburgh Trams 270 received an advert for Breitling in February 2023 it made history as the first tram in the city to carry a full vinyl wrap advert. And now four months on and it is now carrying the second full vinyl wrap advert following the removal of that advert in favour of a brightly coloured as for Camera Obscura & World of Illusions.
The new advert was first seen in the last week of June and features full height vinyls on two of the sections as normal with the remainder of the tram spared of anything on the windows but all other parts of the fleet livery have been covered.
Camera Obscura & World of Illusions is located on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh and is said to give the best rooftop views of the city. It also features over 100 illusions and is a popular tourist attraction in Edinburgh. Its new advert includes pink and blue sections and is definitely not something you are going to miss if you’re in Edinburgh!
This is now 270’s sixth advert. Like many of its sisters it started off with an ad for CR Smith (September 2017-September 2019) and this has been followed by American Express (two designs – September 2019-November 2019 and November 2019-March 2020), Multrees Walk (July 2021-February 2023) and finally Breitling (February 2023-June 2023).
Whether the fact that 270 has now had two full vinyl wrap adverts in a row means this is a change of policy of Edinburgh Trams remains to be seen.
